Jonathan M. Lefevre: Drumming in Time

By Monica M. Lawton | Updated 2013 Interview

Jonathan’s childhood was steeped in the eclectic sounds of the 1960s and 70s, thanks to his hippie parents. “Paul Simon’s *Mother and Child Reunion still resonates deeply with me,” he shares, recalling how the song’s melody struck a chord in his youth. As a teenager, reggae became his obsession after his first encounter, describing it as “love at first song.” He attributes the era’s authentic musical expression to the astrological conjunction of Uranus and Pluto, which he believes fostered truth in art. “That cosmic influence is back from 2024 to 2030, promising social change, and incredible music,” he adds, contrasting it with the less authentic pop of the 80s and 90s.
